Episode description and notes

Tech 101 The Connected Everything Era: Life in a Sensor-Filled World Tech 101, in its first season, features "The Connected Everything Era: Life in a Sensor-Filled World." We are entering an age where technology doesn't just sit in our pockets—it increasingly exists all around us. From smart homes and wearable devices to connected vehicles, factories, cities, healthcare systems, and everyday appliances, sensors are constantly detecting, measuring, communicating, and responding to the physical world. In this episode, Tech 101 explores what happens when billions of connected devices become part of everyday life. How could sensors make our homes safer, transportation smarter, healthcare more responsive, and businesses more efficient? And what happens to privacy when technology can continuously collect information about our movements, environments, habits, and behaviors? We also examine the growing relationship between the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, automation, edge computing, and smart infrastructure—technologies that are transforming ordinary objects into interconnected systems capable of making increasingly sophisticated decisions. But greater connectivity also creates greater responsibility. Who owns the data? Who protects it? What happens when connected systems fail or are compromised? And how much convenience are we willing to exchange for constant connectivity? Welcome to Tech 101, as we explore a future that is rapidly becoming the present—the Connected Everything Era, where almost anything can become a sensor, a source of data, and part of an intelligent network.
